Elemental analysis

The elemental analysis of organic compounds allows you to quantify the percentage of the constituent elements of your sample.

In particular, the determination of elements such as carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulfur and oxygen is of particular importance, since they are the most present elements in nature: for this reason this technique is widely used in all sectors of analytical chemistry.

The so-called CHNS/O analyzers determine the concentrations of the individual elements by burning the sample under examination, using the high-temperature combustion technique with catalytic oxidation. The subsequent combustion gases are separated with a gas chromatographic system and then detected, one at a time, by means of a thermal conductivity detector (TCD).
