The ECS 8024 NC SOIL SPECIAL is the elemental analyzer of the “80” series dedicated to the determination of total carbon and nitrogen.

This makes it particularly suitable for the analysis of these elements in soils, fertilizers, solid waste, sludge, sediments, plants, etc.

Often, in matrices such as those mentioned, it is useful and interesting to determine not only total carbon (TC) but also total organic carbon (TOC) and total inorganic carbon (TIC).

For this reason NC Technologies can offer an automatic analyzer capable of determining total inorganic carbon (TIC): the TIC DISCOVER. In this way it will be easy to determine TC, TIC and TOC in solid samples.

The ECS 8024 NC SOIL SPECIAL is an organic elemental analysis instrument based on high temperature catalytic combustion (Dumas method) for the simultaneous determination of the elements C and N.

The ECS 8024 NC SOIL SPECIAL is an automatic model that represents an evolution of the elemental analysis techniques based on “flash combustion” and chromatographic separation. The combustion gases CO2 and N2 are separated in a GC column maintained at a constant temperature, selectable by the user between 30° and 110 °C. The detection and determination of the concentrations of the various elements is carried out by a thermal conductivity detector (TCD).

The TIC DISCOVER is a fully automatic analyzer capable of determining total inorganic carbon (TIC) through sample acidification and detection by means of an NDIR detector. Equipped with a 68-position autosampler, which houses vials with septa, it is equipped with a 2-needle system for acidifying samples and sampling the headspace to be analyzed. The 2-needle system is made of PEEK, in order to resist possible corrosion due to the acid. The instrument is completely controlled by PC with dedicated software. Thanks to its high level of automation, the TIC DISCOVER is a highly effective instrument for any type of laboratory and application.

The combination of the two analyzers will allow you to perform an in-depth and exhaustive analysis of carbon and nitrogen in solid samples in the agro-environmental sector.
