The determination of the isotopic ratio between stable isotopes requires a specific mass spectrometry technique.
In particular, they are suitable for the analysis of the relative isotopic abundance between stable isotopes of elements such as Carbon, Nitrogen, Sulfur, Hydrogen and Oxygen.
The so-called IRMS (Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer) systems consist of a magnetic sector mass detector, common to all possible configurations, and one or more peripherals depending on the applications and the type of matrices to be analyzed.
