ECS δFAST

Elemental Analyzer

for isotopic analysis

Description

An elemental analyzer coupled with an IRMS enables the so-called Bulk Stable Isotope Analysis (BSIA). This refers to the measurement of the average isotopic composition of an entire sample, rather than of individual molecules.

ECS δFAST is the analyzer developed by NC Technologies for fast δ¹³C, δ¹⁵N, and δ³⁴S isotopic analysis without analytical compromises.

In fact, with the new fastMODULE device, we have not only drastically reduced analysis times, but also significantly improved the separation and shape of the individual peaks.

Thanks to the combined new features of ECS δFAST and COMAPCT IDmicro, we are able to offer a compact, fast, and easy-to-use EA–IRMS system.

  • δ¹³C, δ¹⁵N, and δ³⁴S analysis from a single sample

  • faster δ¹³C, δ¹⁵N, and δ³⁴S analysis time

  • sample weight up to 300 mg*

  • up to 30 mg absolute carbon*

  • suitable for liquid and solid organic samples

  • available in CN and CNS modes

  • equipped with the fastMODULE device

  • low-temperature pyrolysis option for δ¹⁸O analysis

* depending on the nature of the sample

The ECS δFAST elemental analyzer is an instrument dedicated to the analysis of stable isotopes of carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur when combined with the COMPACT IDmicro mass detector.

ECS δFAST allows semi-macro sample weighing and is therefore suitable for any type of matrix, both solid and liquid. Its use is thus appropriate for a wide range of applications, including:

  • food

  • beverages

  • soils

  • plants

  • fragrances and flavors

  • fuels

and many others.

The ECS δFAST is equipped with the new fastMODULE device, which enables the determination of δ¹³C, δ¹⁵N, and δ³⁴S isotopic ratios from a single sample in a fast, automatic manner and without analytical compromises.

Main features of the fastMODULE:

  • drastically reduces δ¹³C, δ¹⁵N, and δ³⁴S analysis time

  • very narrow and high δ³⁴S peak

  • unbeatable separation of C, N, and S peaks
